The Johnstonville Elementary School District is committed to ensuring all students receive a high-quality education, whether in their school of origin or their school of residence, to maintain continuity in their learning experience. In alignment with AB 490, the district emphasizes a collective responsibility to support the educational progress of children in out-of-home placements. This includes collaboration among educators, school staff, social workers, probation officers, caretakers, advocates, and juvenile court officers to meet the unique educational needs of foster youth. It is essential that foster youth have equitable access to academic resources, services, extracurricular programs, and enrichment opportunities, just like all other students. All educational decisions should prioritize the best interests of the child.
